A couple returning from a September holiday have announced a major breakthrough in calendar research after establishing that September occurs after August. They will present their findings at dinner until someone intervenes.
The pair said the trip was cheaper, quieter and pleasantly warm, benefits they believe had previously escaped human attention. Their presentation includes photographs of uncrowded tables and several remarks about how different it must be in August. They have been careful to explain that they are not smug, merely very informed.
Friends were shown a flight receipt, then a second screenshot in case they had not fully understood the saving. One guest attempted to mention an unrelated weekend away but was redirected to the advantages of shoulder season. A conversation about work briefly offered escape before the couple explained that flexible leave was the real luxury.
The discovery has prompted plans for another trip next September, which they fear could become crowded if too many people learn about it. They have restricted publicity to friends, colleagues, social media and anyone serving them coffee. The couple are considering October, but remain concerned that it may lack the exclusivity of a month they have just explained to everyone.
